To secure the safety for the patient and the operator an isolation transformer is unavoidable for most of the medical systems and complex devices. The disadvantages of an isolation transformer is the bulky size, heavy weight and the low efficiency.  A switching transformer raises these disadvantages of a isolation transformer without compromising safety. The topology for the switching medical transformer is based on LLC converter and designed to mount in a 1U height enclosure for a 19 inch rack.
