In today’s power supply market, the LED solutions become more and more demanding due rapidly increase for replacement of incandescent, halogen and fluorescent lighting. The power demands to replace traditional lighting by LED are reduced due its higher light output efficiency levels. The EMC and Power Factor requirements however are now becoming more of interest since grid pollution is growing by lower PF requirements for power levels under 75W. To overcome the problem of grid pollution for the growing amount of applications for under 75W and specifically for local mini grids a bridgeless power supply topology for LED lighting is developed which can achieve near unity PF and current THD levels below 5 % over a very wide input voltage range across the entire output dimming range.
